Hi! My name is Jorgelina Lopez. I am a Textile Designer born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and currently based in Baltimore, MD. My love for textiles is eternal and I have always collected them, treasuring them as pieces of art and history. Textiles in any form inspire and fuel my passion.
In 2015, I moved to Baltimore City and continued my career as a designer and in 2017, I founded La Loupe, an independent design studio that specializes in handcrafted interior lighting and home decor.
During that first period in Baltimore, I also began exploring embroidery on my free time and found inspiration from one of my favorite artists as an starting point of my journey with embroidery.
Since then, I have been creating my own interpretation of Egon Schiele's drawings as a way to pay tribute to his unique style. Using hand-stitching, collage, and experimental embroidery, I explore different ways to translate Schiele's artwork into this medium. I am captivated by his artwork and meticulously examine each line and detail to capture his unique artistic expression in my hand-stitched creations.
